All Together Beer: A Worldwide Collaboration - 04/24/2020
One of the things that has always drawn me to craft beer is the way that breweries have a bond with each other. Typically the owners/employees have the attitude of if one succeeds we all succeed. It's almost like a brotherhood amongst businesses who should be competitors, it's really something special.
With everyone struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, Other Half Brewing out of New York announced the All Together Berwing Project. The website (see link below) described the project as 'a worldwide, open-ended beer collaboration created to raise support for the industry we love so much.' In short, their goal with this project was to release an IPA recipe and breweries around the world could sign up to brew it as long as they committed to donating some or all of the proceeds to their staff or to support local hospitality professionals. We instantly knew we had to be a part of it.
We are homebrewers, so selling the beer was out of the question. However, we made the beer and posted on our social media and texted our friends offering them a can of this delicious hazy IPA if they agreed to buy from a local restaurant or grab beers to go at their local brewery.
To make it even more officlal we reached out to the label printers at Blue Label Packaging Co and they hooked us up with some of the labels that all of the breweries were using, complete with the Bad Moon logo.
To put the icing on the cake, we are even listed amongst the other 650+ breweries from 43 countries on the All Together website.
Whether it's a 50bbl brewery or us brewing 5 gallons at a time in my garage, it really does show how great this community is. Seeing everyone come together at times like these and try to make a difference is really special and we are proud to be a part of it.
